Program Aim:

Do you want to learn how to effectively utilize your time in college to stand out in the competitive global marketplace? Do you want to learn how to identify and implement the key tactics necessary to set sail upon graduation? Dave is passionate about helping students continuously move forward in their career. He created this practically-focused program from input provided by his highly successful students, hiring managers, and senior executives from various sectors.

Program Outline:

Set Sail Undergraduates consists of two one-hour modules. They are as follows:

Learning Module 1:

Who You Know – How to Build Outstanding Long-Term Professional Networks in College with Faculty, Peers, Campus Career Services, Alumni, and Community Members.

Learning Module 2:

What You Know – How to Gain a Competitive Edge in the Marketplace by Completing Essential Coursework and Maximizing Relevant Learning Experiences both Inside and Outside of the Classroom (Internships, Alternative Credentialing, and Other Strategies).

Students will complete the Set Sail Worksheet during the program consisting of important action items to develop and implement during college. It can be used as a guide to help students move forward from college to career.

The ideal time to complete this program is before college enrollment or during the freshman year in college.

Program Outcomes: 

Upon program completion, students will:

• understand the importance of developing and sharing their unique value proposition with prospective employers and/or graduate programs;
• learn one-of-a-kind differentiation tactics to stand out from the competition in
  their future academic and career pursuits;
• discover how to develop and leverage their professional network to enhance
  future opportunities;
• understand how to acquire the critical skills and knowledge needed to excel in
  the 21st century marketplace; and
• understand the importance of discovering their purpose in life.
